About
Premiering in 2008, Erie Life Magazine is Erie’s first city publication. Utilizing Erie as a platform, the magazine set out to be a fresh and exciting voice for the region. Erie Life features the tri-state region as a unique, innovative area and a geographically beautiful place to reside. The magazine’s basic mission is to shine a light on what the entire tri-state region has to offer through dynamic design and photography, as well as thoughtful and thought-provoking editorial. Erie Life focuses on a different theme each month including health care, food & dining, and power women. Content rich articles include pieces on arts and culture, history, business, dining and entertainment, travel, economy, true crime, family life, fashion, and health care.
Erie Life Magazine saw unprecedented growth its first year, increasing distribution from only 25 small, independent retail locations to over 340 retail distribution points in four states including “big box” stores like Barnes & Noble, Borders, Wegmans Food Markets, and Giant Eagle Grocery Stores. Today, the estimated readership is close to 100,000 people stretching as far west as Lansing, Michigan, and as far east as the Finger Lakes in New York.
Designed and written completely in-house by a staff of nine with a median age of 32, Erie Life is published 12 times a year. Based on the increase in distribution and sales in multiple states, Erie Life has shifted its focus slightly to feature articles and events that happen all across the Lake Erie region. This has led to the magazine securing national celebrities including country music legend Clint Black and Iron Chef Michael Symon for upcoming covers.
Erie Life Magazine is deeply committed to promoting the region and making the area a better place to live. In its first year alone, Erie Life donated over $140,000 in free advertising and collateral materials to several area nonprofits.
