What keeps you healthy?  Diet, exercise, friends and family?  I wish I could say I exercise the way I should, and I wish I could say I always eat healthfully, but producing a magazine every 30 days, raising two very active little boys under the age of seven, and juggling a household complete with four cats, a fish, and mountains of dirty laundry, most days I am proud to have found matching shoes and gotten out the door on time.  And I don’t think my life is really any different than that of most folks.   It seems we all overdo our responsibilities but underdo the things we need for our own good self-care. Kids are great at reminding us to stop, enjoy the moment, and put a puzzle together or read a book. Read more ...

  When Morgan Spurlock came out with his film Supersize Me several years ago, his premise was simple – Americans are fat because of fast food.  Spurlock went on an all-McDonald’s diet for 30 days to prove his point.  Spurlock, who was healthy and fit at the beginning of the film, ended up 40 pounds heftier and a whole lot unhealthier. While the movie is truly entertaining – Spurlock spews a Quarter Pounder at one point – one thing always bothered me.
