Types of Home Air Conditioners

Man turning on the air conditionerAir conditioners have similar operating principles with refrigerators. They create a serene environment in a room or even the whole house. As the mantra of Kennedy Air Conditioning goes: a proper air conditioner should be able to create a relaxed environment — leaving you and your family feeling comfortable. It can be hectic sometimes to identify which AC to buy as there are various types one can choose from.

Window Air Conditioner

This kind of air conditioner is also identified as a unitary air conditioning system. It has the necessary equipment that makes up an AC such as a compressor. This type of AC system is mostly installed in single rooms because they emit cold air on one end while ejecting heat on the other end. What makes this particular kind desirable is they are easy to transport, budget-friendly and energy efficient.

Through-the-wall Air Conditioners

Somewhat similar to window air conditioners but differs in cooling capacity, weight and design. Many choose this type because it possesses energy efficiency, has a more polished appearance and has a high cooling capacity.

Portable Air Conditioners

This is a self-contained AC unit that stands freely on the floor. They function similar to window air conditioners but what makes them useful is that they are easily portable and require no permanent installation.

Ductless Mini-split Air Conditioners

This consists of two parts namely the indoor and outdoor units and is not self-contained. The former is responsible for blowing air to the intended room to be cooled or heated, and the latter has a compressor, condenser and expansion valve. What makes this type efficient is the fact that they are versatile and operate independently.
It can be very confusing when it comes to figuring and trying out the type of AC to select and purchase. It’s not a matter of how good the AC looks but the performance of the system. With a wide range to choose from, it has now become easy and fast.
