When in Israel: Places You Need to Visit

Fascinating religious history, beautiful beaches, and diverse cultures make Israel a dream destination for many people. It offers you a wide variety of sites, fun places to visit, and fun things to do with your family. Here are four must visit places on your next LDS tour in Israel.

1. Masada

On an isolated rock plateau, in the south-eastern part of Israel, stands the mountain fortress of Masada overlooking the Dead Sea. This place is memorable in for the mass suicide of 1000 inhabitants who refused to surrender to Rome. Try walking up the Snake Path to the top, or you can take a cable car to visit the site.

2. The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, recording 1360 feet below sea level. The Dead Sea is famed for having a high mineral and salt content, which makes the waters therapeutic. The salty water is beneficial to people who have skin problems.

3. The Golan Heights

Found in the northern part of the country, the Golan Heights is a mountainous region with historical attractions, breathtaking landscapes, and beautiful nature reserves for your entire family. It is perfect for all hikers and bikers since it has different paths with varying levels of difficulty.

4. The Ramon Crater

This crater is found in the Negev desert and is the biggest crater in Israel. It is 25 miles in length and nearly 7 miles across. You could go on a jeep tour, a helicopter tour, or an air balloon flight to see the crater from above. If you were not sure of whether or not to visit Israel, now you have a better understanding of the things that you can do. In your next Latter-Day Saints’ Israel tour, you can ask your agent to include these destinations that offer culture, relaxation, and fun activities for everyone.
